Bansko Q.1 - ATM's

I've taken a load of Levs out to take with me. I'm going with 17 others hough so want to advise them on what to do, I've heard that the cash points in Bulgaria don't work with UK cards and CC's aren't widely accepted just wanted to check if this is true. Also wondering for myself incase I spot some gear I wnat to buy or the snow keeps dropping and a heli trip becomes doable will I be able to get the readies out?

not true.

cash cards can be used. Check the back for cirrus or maestro markings.

Credit card can also be used.

In alaska supermarket , in pamps, they will accept credit card with passport at bureau de change

Cheers guys. If I can use Maestro then that's cool. Teh people who have mentioned problems (on this forum) seem to have said it's due to chip & pin?

My mate and i had problems using our Maestro cards at the bank machine at the bottom gondola station, it kept saying "Card invalid" but the other ATM's worked fine (Once we found them Very Happy)

Atm at the gondola station just by ticket both. And there is a atm at the strazhite hotel 150mtrs from the gondola never had any problems. I dont even take a lot of cash with me now, just enough sterling to tip the instructor and a little in my pocket for the journey home.

re: Bansko Q.1 - ATM's

Didn't have any problems last year, except for snapping my card, doh! Confused

Have been reading the pots myself about other people having problems so I've just decided to take enough Lev to get me through a couple of days, then taking clean crisp sterling notes (no writing or rips) with me to change out there coz you get a better exchange rate.
