Bansko Vs Pamporovo

Hi There Very Happy

Last year Me & the Missus went to Pamporovo (2nd Jan I think) We were absolute beginners but after the first day were heading (slowly) down the long green run from the top of the mountain.

This year we're thinking of going back to Bulgaria, but are considering Bansko instead, but looking a the ski map I'm a little concerned about the length / height of the green & blue runs.

So, has anyone been to both resorts? How do the two compare for beginners? If the opportunites ...

Any other pros / cons ....thoughts?

re: Bansko Vs Pamporovo

Not been to Pamps but was in Bansko in Feb. The 7km ski road from the top of the gondola to the bottom is easy skiing and you should be fine. Also if you take the chairlift up and do 6, 4 and 1 coming down I would think these would be OK for you. The runs are wide and this year the snow was excellent. You can then progress on to the reds.

I loved Bansko and can't wait to go back. Am intermediate but always a little rusty on the first day. The main thing I found was that the runs are nice ...

From what I've heard Pamps is probably easier skiing but Bansko is a more extensive area and a lovely real town for the evenings.

If I can help further come back to me.

re: Bansko Vs Pamporovo

Val,

How does the off- piste rate in Bansko? Also, compared to other Bulagarian resorts. Do many people venture of-piste or stick to the groomers?

A mate and I are planning our first trip to Bansko in Feb', and can't wait after reading many reviews.
