Just go round the corden. I do!!It is quite interesting and fun to ski. Another good one is the road below mid station. instead of turning left and going down the little steep bit below the Gondola onto the red cack to Chalin Valog, take the 2nd right and ski the road. really narrow and steep with little room to put in some turns. FUN!!
I have seen it open but not while I've been out for the last couple of years. I've gone around the fence before too - It's a bit of a laugh - more like off-pisting, without the worry of getting lost....
No idea why they don't prepare it and keep it open... it does run close to a nursery slope area on that side, but that shouldn't be reason alone...
I think they have not bothered, because they have been preparing Tomba all season for the last couple of years. So you could only get to it after the races finish, but this year maybe they will have more time
Its been skied, tracks appearing at the bottom... it has in the past been set aside for slalom practice, it is very steep and ideal for this... but as said, skip the barriers and go for it.. it can though have snow boulders under the new snow that have formed from the cannons, and rolled (or have been pushed) so beware, they are very hard...
