re: Bansko conditions

I'd expect all the runs to be open.
You will have not too busy pistes
The chance for a few beers at midday top of the mountain with clear blue sky.

Enjoy - don't worry there is plenty of snow.
One thing I would recommend though is get up early ie 8.30am gondela catch it as soon as it opens and then enjoy the day - no doubt with the higher temps mid afternoon the loer pistes may become heavy and slower.
At that point you could carry on skiing or decide to enjoy a few beers and relax/spa.

re: Bansko conditions

Gareth don't be so sure mate or too over optimistic.
What is was last week has gone what has been 2 weeks ago is in the memory books.

Bansko is further south Temperatures are higher by 2-3 degrees than Boro so very tricky there.(15-20C not a problem to reach at all)
Forget about the ski road (or if you like torture, then it will be just fine)
Only on top part(lower part on the left on the map) is not funny.
The start of heavy weekends until end of season has started
(Sofians ...

(Sofians visiting Borovets and Bansko to get some last few runs of the end of season before packing it all out.

re: Bansko conditions

I think you can expect all runs open, morning snow fine, sticky snow in the afternoon, ski road dodgy - pretty much standard expectation for late March. Temps forecast to drop a bit from Sunday, should keep top runs fresher.

Not sure about the crowds, I have skiied a week in late March/Early April in Bansko on three occasions and never queued further than the gondola steps, once up the Mountain, like own private ski resort. This year maybe with the closure of Vitosha it will be busier ...

This year maybe with the closure of Vitosha it will be busier at weekends with Sofians though, maybe that is what Mr M is referring to.

re: Bansko conditions

Steve C is going up today and so I am sure he will write a report later. From what I have heard the slopes are best in the morning. The lower slopes are getting slushy after midday mainly the ski road but it is still skiable. This was from guests Steve took back yesterday. They had a great weeks skiing the best that they have had in march as always come same time of year.

re: Bansko conditions

As Muffy said, i have been up today, and it is still very good, perfect spring conditions on piste, the top runs are exceptional, getting a little heavier coming down, but good cover, and lovely soft snow... Ripped Challin Valog to pieces with fast turns down both blacks, and that was around 01.30pm, not a stone in sight...
The ski road is heavy near the bottom, and puddles in places, but still good cover all the way down to the gondola...
I was amazed how good it was, but i like it soft ...
