Bansko for beginners

i have been looking into bansko for a february trip to learn snowboarding. one of the sites i looked at said bansko is definitely not for beginners i.e. too steep/hard. i'd appreciate the opinion of anyone that's been there.

thanks

Hi UlyBug ,

Since the easy pistes are limited , beginners might not enjoy learning . However , if your target is Bansko , you should ask the help of YULEN school ..
Cheers

I am from Bulgaria- and I love Bansko, usually go there every weekend... I think you are right though - it is not extremely difficult... but it is difficult enough. Not many beginner slopes there. It is worth though - many friends of mine learned how to snowboard in a couple of days and were trying the more difficult slopes afterwards. Depends on you!

Hi there

My fiancee and I was in Bansko last March as beginners and found Bansko fairly difficult to ski. The nursery slopes in Bansko are fine to get the very early basics learnt, but the step up from that is quite big.

Bansko is challenging but fun.

The ski run back down to the base station is also fun, but that was snow depending ... of course with the newly installed snow cannons and over infrasturcture improvements to Bansko, things will surely only get better.

Read my Bansko report, it was open and honest and lengthy

re: Bansko for beginners

Personally I would say Bansko is fine for beginners. This year the nursery area by the top gondola station has been redisigned, and there has also been another chairlift installed from the gondola station across to a point just above Shiligarnika, which gives direct access to a perfect long gentle slope that is ideal for beginners.
