re: Bansko hotel

Hi Graham

Stayed in the Hotel Bansko in March last year. It was really quiet there at the time so we made great use of the (excellent) swimming pool/sauna and bar. Had these to ourselves most days!! Hi Graham

Stayed in the Hotel Bansko in March last year. It was really quiet there at the time so we made great use of the (excellent) swimming pool/sauna and bar. Had these to ourselves most days!! The rooms in the hotel are very spacious and we had a fantastic covered balcony overlooking the mountains (sunshine all day streaming in the windows!).

The food was nothing fantastic but perfectly functional, although we ate out several times for half nothing (in fact the average night out including dinner and drinks was about 10 - 15 Euro!!) The hotel is only about 5 mins from the centre of town - not much there shop wise but lots of nice taverns!!. The breakfast was ok if you like cereal and toast (with some barely recognisable hot food) but once again it was fine and set you up nicely for the slopes.

As we rented our skis and poles I have no idea if they charged for storing this equipment!! Sorry!! However, they had ample ski storage space and friendly enough staff. The ski bus was very regular (although I am not sure now that the new gondalas are now running!) The hotel is about 500 meters from the new lifts so they will need to have some transportation for the guests.

The skiing in Bansko was brilliant.. our instructor was fantastic and as there was only 4 in our group we learned an awful lot in 6 days!! The slopes were very well maintained and it snowed 3 times when we were there ensuring a nice top-up!! Did a paraglide too.. wicked!!

I would recommend Bansko to anyone.. one guy on the same trip mentioned that he hadn't seen better snow in the 40 years he had been skiing. However, it is impossible to get to Bansko from Ireland without going through the UK so we are heading to Borovets this year.. hope that the experience is just as good!!

Any other queries, just email!!
