Bansko in December

Hi there, first time around here and got a few questions Smile

Basically we have booked a trip to Bansko from the 8th to the 15th of Dec 2011 and would like to know what are the chances of being able to ski, be it on natural or synthetic snow. We couldn't do otherwise re the dates so changing them isn't really an option. We are kind of looking forward to for the snow and to ski, will we be deluded?

Regards!

Hiya,
Have to say that it's a gamble - a big one at that. The lifts normally schedule to open in mid December, and the last couple of jears there hasn't been much snow at all then. You may well get lucky though!
Sorry to bear bad news.
Matt

re: Bansko in December

So the skiing area would be closed until the seasons officially opens? Or there could be a chance you could still hire the gear and skii abit without the need to lifts if theres some real/cannon snow around?

Sorry if i'm asking dumb questions, this was going to be our he first skiing experience Sad

re: Bansko in December

If temps are low they will make snow, fact... and if possible will open the resort on December 1st... Last year was dire, but the year before was ok, with 5 complete pistes, nursury area and the ski road to the town, and that was without a drop of natural snow Wink
