I have been going to Bansko the past 5 years and am thinking about tying Borovets as transfer time is shorter. Can some one advise me the main difference between the runs and night life please between the two resorts. I usually go self catering in Bansko due to the fantastic bargain places available to eat out, if I choose Borovets am I better to go full board? My party will consist of 2 adults and 3 teenagers, 4 can ski most of the reds in Bansko and 1 teenager is a beginner can do Blues but not very confident. All advice is most welcome. Will be looking to come over within the first couple of weeks in March.Or Feb half term if I can get a good deal.

re: Bansko or Borovets
never been to bansko but i do know borovets.plenty of places to eat out at reasonable prices.great nightlife.if you arrive in the afternoon check out white majic or bobby's bar for good advice on the best runs to tackle first.also their are a lot of hotels and apartments near the bottom of the slopes.ive been going for about six years and can give you good low down on quite a few

also ,i would suggest taking your beginner to christo at the white majic for a couple of hours tuition to boost their confidence to help them bridge the gap.ive found that dragging friends and loved ones down slopes their not ready for is counter productive. steve g
I've been to both and prefer Boro. Bansko does has a bit bigger ski area, but apart from that Boro wins hands down. One of the best things about it is being able to jump on a couple of different chair lifts right outside the hotels/bars instead of having to get the Bansko gondola for 20 mins and then a chair lift before you can get skiing. This also helps with the queues as you've got a choice of 2 main chair lifts or the gondola, instead of the one gondola in Bansko which is a bit of a ...

Nightlife... I think Boro has more of a charm about it as it's wooden shacked bars and restaurants nestled in the trees on the mountain, whereas Bansko is more of a typical town you find anywhere, more concrete and roads.
Full board will prob work out cheaper, but not much in it. Mainly depends if you are happy with the restricted menu or not.
Hi, we have been to both and prefer Borovets because of the cosy athmosphere. All in all - nothing left to say. For tuitition you may have a look at Hunters, a very familiar ski school, as well. Nazdrave

I have been to Borovets a few years ago and went To Bansko last year, and heading back there again end of January... as much as i enjoyed Borovets which has by far the better and more lively atmosphere with nice restaurants on the slopes and great bars at night; but it all comes down to the skiing, which Bansko has a far superior lift infrastructure, more runs, and most importantly practically the whole resort is covered by snow cannons, at the moment Borovets have only a few runs open, whereas Bansko has every run open. Bansko's runs are steeper in general than Borovets but has a brilliant 7km from of the top of the gondola back down to the village. As much as i would like to Bansko and go back to Borovets, as we book in advance, and only go once a year, we had to choose Bansko; but if you're waiting til the last minute, then see what the conditions are like, if basically all of Borovets runs are open, then go for Borovets, as with sufficient snow, in my opinion it would be an all round better resort.
Thanks all for your help I have chosen Borovets. so now where is best place to stay looking for at least a 1 bedroom apartment 2 adults 2 kids 15 & 17 all help appreciated.Coming March 5th for a week
Flora has good apartments and is well placed for gondola and slopes etc. Also it is near to Bobbys Bar, White Magic, and Hunters ski school is based in the main building.Rila also has apartments and is right at the bottom of the slopes.

re: Bansko or Borovets
rila has good views, but the apartment we had,had bunk beds in same room which was ok as our boys were quite young at the time.the alpin which is just opposite has a seperate bedroom to the main room.dont know about flora as we just had a double.best room we ever had was the ice angels but it is a bit pricey.last few years we've had an alpin chalet.there a bit small, but have seperate bedroom, close to the slope and an entrance area for kit storage. steve.g
