Hi,
I too am taking a first trip to Bulgaria (with wife n family). We prefer no queues and had intended to book Bansko. Having researched a bit I am more confused!
Is there a similar amount of skiing at both resorts?
Is Bansko much quieter?
Anyone know if the newly built Hotel Perun & Hotel Orphey are complete and up to standard
Not sure about the hotels, but there seems to be lots of action in both resorts with regard to to new lifts and ski runs. Bansko from what I gather (I'm off there in Jan) has less q's but also very limited night life.
I've just returned from Bansko. There is a huge amount of development going on there. I'm not sure about the Orphey, but I can confirm that the Perun is up and running (it looks fine) and the Grand is well on it's way. I've not skied there (I will this season) but Bansko currently has 53+km of marked pistes and I believe it offers some more challenging runs than the other resorts. I also believe it will get much busier in the coming years!
Im off to Bansko in march with my son and partner, we chose Bansko as it was the quieter resort although still plenty to do in the evenings but not exactly a nighclub, party place.
Depends on age of your family as to whether night life ok. Mainly taverns - eating and drinking!! There ia a bowling alley at the Hotel Strazite open to the public, and of course the hotels have pools etc. Couple of fairly naff nightclubs!! We are going for the 3rd time over New Year. Very short queues last year, skiing brilliant!
