Anyone know if there are any new runs in Bansko this year, there were certainly a couple of new lifts last year and the impression I got was that this was going to be an on-going process.
I'm almost certain that there aren't, as yet, any new runs this year. I have heard that they are looking at cutting some more tree lines out to create more runs, but not sure when this will actually happen. If we are very lucky they may do it over the next summer season ready for next winter.

This year has been spent in establishing the existing pistes, my understanding is that when a piste is cut through a tree line the cleared area has to be secured, this is normally done by laying cut timber horizontally across the piste, this allows for fauna to get a hold and in turn `establish' the run. The heavy rains early in the season caused many mudslides, i was witness to some in june. That apart i was also witness to a delegation from Germany (mostly Green party) who were there to discover the effect on the national park, it turns out that there has been some unplanned expansion that may involve Ulen appearing at the Europeon court.
Hopefully all this will be sorted, at the end of the day bansko needs more piste, the town is growing at an alarming rate, this could spell disaster if the mountain does not expand to accomadate...
