I need to get from Bansko to Borovets on monday or tuesday next week. Can anyone advise me the best way, I speak no bulgarian apart from a small beer which for once is no help.
Personnally I would go on the road to Sofia, and some kilometers before reaching Sofia, you can leave the main road (Greece-Sofia axis) so as to go to Borovets through the mountains
You have two options: One is bus service the other is taxi.
For the bus service - you should do something like: Bansko - Sofia, Sofia - Samokov, Samokov - Borovets. I do not suggest this service for someone that does not speak bulgarian, espesially with no local knowledge of the transportation system in Sofia, as the bus stations of the different lines are at the opposite site of the city.
The second option is to hire a taxi. For such a long trip you should be able to deal ...
Hi Anna,
You have two options: One is bus service the other is taxi.
For such a long trip you should be able to deal with the taxi driver. The distance between the two resorts is 84 kilometers with car, so you should be able to get a deal for something like 100 lv (50 EUR) for the trip (the usual fare for a taxi is 0.40-0.50 lv per km. On long distance routes you pay the return trip of the car too). For this option you can ask advise in the hotel/hostel you are staying, or even a local pub.
You can take the bus, but you have to ride only to Dupnitza and from there to Samokov much easier, or I'm not sure but beleave there is a bus line from Bansko to Samokov, ask in the Hotel.
