Bansko transfer and lift passes

Hi there folks,

Myself and two close friends are coming to Bansko in Feb 2010 to celebrate Booze my 40th birthday. Crying I'm a beginner level snowboarder and will be bringing my own kit, Scott is roughly the same level on skis, and intends hiring his kit when he gets to Bansko and Jo is a reasonably accomplished snowboarder who will be bringing her own kit with her.

Can anyone recommend a transfer service from Sofia airport to Bansko and back? Also, what would be our best way of booking 6 day lift passes? Should we book them in advance, if so, how / where? Or would we be better to just get them on arrival in Bansko?
I've managed to book our apartment and flights without a hitch, and these other two items are the only ones left outstanding (can you tell I'm a wee bit excited Very Happy ), so any advice would be most welcome.

Ta very much,

Craig Razz

For transfers Steve c on this site, or if you go to skidvd he has an add on there. He offers private transfers at a very good price. In relation to lift passes we normally just buy them when we get there you pay at the both with a credit card.

depends which week your going...if its feb half term week (think thats w/c 16th feb) try avoid hiring your ski equipment from inside the gondola station because they dont usually open until 8.30 by the time you have collected it each morning the queue has built up to near the main road. re: Bansko transfer and lift passes

If your considering hiring boots/skis then Ulen may be worth considering as you will get a discount on the package...
Agree with Rich about half term, but if you can make a saving then the inconvenience could be worth it...

re: Bansko transfer and lift passes

Hi,

We're coming out on the 20th Feb, which I think is the week after half-term, at least up here in Scotland anyway. Razz My mate Scott is certainly considering hiring everything he needs when we get there. What is this 'Ulen' that you speak of Steve? Is it a hire shop?
Cheers for all the help folks, I really am a newbie with all this snowsport stuff. My usual route to the local A&E is via my mountainbike! Cool

re: Bansko transfer and lift passes

Thought I'd add my bit here, I agree that skidvd are great for Transfers. Also check out Mitch and Co.

for lift passes, some places can have them made in advance. In fact, bulgariaski used to do it, although I don't see a link for it yet. Another alternative is snow and trail.

For equipment hire and lessons, I'd recommend either snow and trail, banskoskimania or method snow school.

Hope this helps!
