On my way to Bansko soon for some top snow fun hopefully. Never been before so a little nervous about the mixed reports from Bulgaria. Anyone give me the low down on Bansko where to go and not to go etc. Thanks in advance. Staying in hotel bansko anyone been before ? what it like ?
Just got back, snow is brilliant. Plenty of runs for people who have skied before. Hell of a lot of snow. An avalanche has taken out part of the beginners tbars and was shut when we left. Beware of run (known as the road) down back to village. Everyone goes ballistic down there (missus got taken out two days running). I'm bigger, they missed me...... But nice end to day.

Most hotels food shite, typical east european, don't see the benefit of serving decent food. But the bars/resturants generally serve very good food very cheap. Everywhere is cheap. Lots of cheap places for clothes, equipment, alcohol etc.
If you want english place to stay give the Devonshire Lodge a call, excellent alround. Including their own ski and board instructors. Definately recommend. Very helpful so can always take their number and give them a call.
Beware in village of people trying to entice you into bars etc. They don't take no as an answer. Not that the bars arn't good, just gets annoying.
Not sure if can get levs (bulg money) here, can change easy in banks there and get good rates.
Beware of crap roads, would recommend not to drive, police see foreigners as a boost to their retirement funds and are always happy to accept money to turn a blind eye for speeding etc.
I stayed in Hotel Bansko beginning of February. The hotel is good, big swimming pool, two sauna cabins, fitness, massage room, a quite cosy lobby and a shuttle to the gondola. I was transferred from a small room in the right wing to a really big room in the left wing, close to the swimming pool. That was excellent. No complaints about the breakfast. Dinner is OK, but not more than that. And most important you miss the wonderfull atmosphere you can experience in a mehana.Try chomlek, must be ...

Is it your first time to Bulgaria or is it the first you will be skiing?
