Bansko.. anyone been there

Having never been to Bansko or indeed any Bulgarian resort I was wondering does anyone know of any good bad points, i have checked the resort info but would like to hear any first hand experiences

I went to Borovets last year and had a good time but the snow could've been better.
I'm off to Bansko on Saturday (Pirin), less crowded pistes, better snow record and even cheaper !!!!!

I was in Bansko for Christmas - had a fantastic time.
Friendly people, good food (in the Mehanas), cheap beer and cheap wine.
Oh and the skiing was a laugh too !!

How does the ski hire work (is it in the hotel or do you pick up your kit by the slopes)

Anything else you can tell me would be appreciated ie places to go, things to do etc
Can't wait for a massage

Hi Bonzo,
Ski hire place was at the bottom gondola station - all the stuff was brand new Salomen stuff.
You have to take your ski's and boots back to your hotel on an evening - there are minibuses which trundle back and forth between the bigger hotels (Pirin, Bansko and strazite)
There are loads of good Mehana's - all offer very similar food at cheap prices.
One of the better ones we went to was just opposite the Pirin - they cooked the food on the fire.
