HI Givago.

I've been snowboarding once before and one thing i did wrong was doing a learn to board package in resort. it was a right waste of time. I would do a learn to ski or board package here and then do beginner lesson when your there! that way you dont waste the first 2 days learning to stop and turn!

if your looking for good deals inghams and balkan are good. we're staying at the hotel loin in bansko next feb it looks really good.

As for the lifts and stuff you'll be fine ...

As for the lifts and stuff you'll be fine there really easy. (unless your on a snowboard then it gets tricky)

Hope this helps

re: Bansko

Hi Givago,

I went to Bansko earlier this year. It really is a great place. The best and most economical way for you will be to do a package holiday - try balkan holidays as they are usually cheapest. You can book a full package to include ski hire, lift pass and tuition.

Be warned though - start getting fit now.

In terms of accomodation, I do not know of any chalets in Bansko. However, it is a new resort (about 4 years old) and as labour is cheap and materials cheaper hotels are ...

In terms of accomodation, I do not know of any chalets in Bansko. However, it is a new resort (about 4 years old) and as labour is cheap and materials cheaper hotels are being built to really high standards. My recommendation is either the hotel Perun or the Kempinski Grand. The Strazhite also seems to be a good, well positioned hotel.

Re the lifts, your instructor will help you.

Final piece of advise, early March seems to be the best time to go snow wise.

pamps is a good place to learn, the slopes are alot easier and not so steep some realy easy greens to build your confidents, learn to ski there is pretty cheap and leasons are good, I have been to bansko and it is a better ski area but if this is your very 1st time pamps would possibly suit you better, and you will possibly find it slightly cheaper, save Bansko for you second time when you can realy make the most of the slopes.

which ever you choice you will have a great time ...

re: Bansko

Very Happy - really pleased to receive replies - nice to know there are helpful people around. We are starting to look now at hotels etc. We don't mind if we go into a chalet with just breakfast and we can eat out in the evenings. Any ideas anyone? Also flights - who best to go with?

re: Bansko

whats your budget, last year we booked appatment, flights and transferes all seperatly cost us just under £450 for two of us, the food in the resturants in bansko is fantastic and realy cheap, also cheap on the slopes, There are some self catering apartments at the foot of the mountain cost about £375 a week for the apartment, flights with BA start from £69 each way, transferes through this site start at £100 return for 3 people, you can hire skis easily and get your lift passes no problem ...

hotels the best one is the kempinski right at the bottom of the mountain, you can ski to the door but is a little bit pricey, try crystal online or balken, the stazhite is close to the centre and heard good reports about that one.

hope this helps
