if the wind is up then it is really dusty, you can avoid it, you get on the bus to the slopes from your hotel and then back on it at the end of the day, you can get a taxi to the centre at night, depends where you are staying to how bad the dust was, and it was only windy one day out of a week.
we are staying at the Lion Hotel but if we can hop on buses i should be fine, lets hope is not windy from 3rd March - 10th March, thanks for the reassurance!!
I stayed in the Lion and the only time I encountered the dust was if I walked back to the hotel from the slopes, it cost me 5 lev to get to the centre at night if I booked a taxi with the hotel.... never got a taxi back at night as was too drunk to care if it was cold... and the taxis were at least 20 lev to get back.
hi gill, that's good to hear 5lev for a taxi most days will be money well spent if it prevents me getting ill! i read on your other post that you thought the Lion was really good, glad to hear that as not heard much about it! did you use the swimming pool? was it nice enough to spend a few hours there if i fancy a morning off from the slopes?
I never used the swimming pool but it looked nice, I had a day off from sking and went walking round the town, be sure to try a chocolate and banana pancake from one of the little huts dotted about they are lush.
the hotel provides a shuttle bus each morning to the slopes and then again at night free of charge.
If there is no wind its only a ten minute walk to the centre, def. try a Mehena, your ski instructor should be able to suggest a good one, he may even offer to meet the group ...

we won't have a ski instructer as we won't be having lessons but we will be sure to look out for Amigos and plan to ask the rep about the bar crawl! also fancy the wine tasting trip that is says about in the brochure (inghams) so will ask about that too!
my bf is more of a keen snowboarder than i am so i'll probably end up having a couple of afternoons entertaining myself so good to know i can take a wander around the town, and laze by the pool if i fancy it. will def. try to find me some ...
