Bansko

Arrive in Bansko 23rd March having been there for the last two years over half term,I realise this is an obvious question but how much quieter will it be e.g. gondola,on slopes,in town.Is there any other european holidays at this time? Looking forward to a weeks full skiing instead of waiting around for half of it,any comments would be appreciated.

re: Bansko

In my experience March is the best month to visit. The gondola queues are still a drag but once up on the slopes there is plenty of room and generally good sunshine. Don't know if the Snowheads link will work but try this for European school holiday dates http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=89192

re: Bansko

Not much going on at the end of March, queues will be a lot smaller and the mountain less busy... March can be great, longer days and more chance of sunshine, conditions can get a little heavy after lunch but never an issue, or has not been over the last 5 years or more...

re: Bansko

Hi,

After going on my first skiing holiday last year in Borovets. We've decided to try Bansko this time round. How does it compare to Borovets? I will be going on the 26th January, will the gondola queue be pretty bad at this time of year?

Cheers :-)

re: Bansko

We are going out the week before that.

We have been in April a few times and also half term a number of times.

In April it's quiet plenty of room no waiting anywhere it was hot too on one holiday but another it was dumping either way great time was had in both conditions.

In Feb it's much busier really busy but the gondela clears the line quickly we got in line at 8:15am and were on the slope at 9am every time and that's with getting to the line on the main road and noting it ...

It's also really cold in Feb I mean bitterly cold and its likely you will wake to snow in Bansko or it just keep snowing. White outs well they are no fun at all and can happen quickly (had two right from top of mountain to base station took hours to get down). It's great fun too

Don't get too hung up about it just go and you'll have a great holiday with plenty of skiing.
