just got back from bansko yesterday - had a fantastic time, skiing was great, everyone was really friendly, it's a great ski resort, not crowded, not comercialised, lets hope it doesn't get spoilt in the future.
have fun and say hi to everyone for me!
Just back from Bansko. Stayed at the Perun. It was good (apart fom the food, which was rubbish - but that's just Bulgaria. Try the little place behind the Buddha Bar near the old town square just behind the monument. Usually have a sheep roasting just outside the door). Hotel facilities are good, but a little rough around the edges and the staff not exactly motivated. Recommend the outdoor heated pool to get rid of leg ache. DEFINITELY get the 08:15 bus to the gondola station on your first ...

DEFINITELY get the 08:15 bus to the gondola station on your first day - getting your skis and boots is insane. The ski hire place is poorly organised. Well worth hiring a locker for your boots at 3lv per day. Oh - and try the paragliding off the top of the mountain - INTENSE!!
It is usually the done thing for each ski school group to have a whip round for the instructors at the end - 20-30lv each is about right. Those guys earn bugger all in Bulgaria. The snow and skiing is brilliant right now - you guys are going to have a great time.
