Help - I am going to Bansko on 26th Feb and have never been skiing before (never really wanted too!) What are the instructors like? How did any of you beginners get on?
Just come back from Pamporovo snow is the best its been in years. instructor's are brill you will be flying down the mountains within 3 to 4 days. And best of all it is dirt cheap and i mean everything is cheap. For every £40 sterling you change you wil get 100 levs and you get a lot for 100 levs. And there will be the same snowing conditions in Bansko
if you dont make the grade the instructoirs will physically beat you infront of the group- it was particularily frightening for the women and children. Thankfully i was ace so had no worries but i saw loads of folk with black eyes by the end of the week.
Just returned home, didn't want to ski either but went for my daughter and husband because they were keen. its fantastic. please don't hesitate to ask questions.
thanks for the reassurance. It is me (not David!) that is the problem! I am not at all keen but son and husband both have been once before and are hooked. I promised to give it a go but the time has come rather quicker than I thought. I normally do sun, heat, bare skin and sightseeing, not sure about this at all. Also balance is appalling - never did crack ice-skating or roller skating! Your reply helped a little though.
Going to Bansko the same week - I'm expecting it to be as good as Pamporovo has been for the last two years - excellent instructors, not enormously difficult skiing, lukewarm food (except on the mountain) and excellent fiery "cognac" [best drunk heated, for instantaneous effect] at about a quid for 100ml - say a quadruple measure by UK standards! In fact, dirt cheap all round. And apart from the inevitable poisoning effects of tourism, the Bulgars are warm, hospitable and helpful.

Just don't expect it to be like USA, Switzerland, France or Italy!
