Best day

Favourite day's skiing

With the rising temperatures, patchy conditions and the best of the season behind us - I thought we could look back at your favourite days skiing this season.
I spent a few days skiing at the end of January and found Borovets to be as good as I had remembered it to be (I had not skied there for seven years) really good snow cover.

On one run I used the express lift by the Rila and met a wonderful retired man who had brought all his family (17 inc grandchildren) out as a retirement present. He had hoped that after months of prep in Milton Keynes he would be able to gather all his family at the bottom of the run by the Rila and they could watch him ski down the black but unfortunately he was struggling on the reds so was having a day’s tuition to see if he could nail it. All too soon the lift ended and I followed Ted down the red with his instructor giving gentle encouragement - they nipped off before the Black on to the road down as I was on business I only stayed another day and never saw Ted again but this spirit and the great snow still fills me with a warm feeling.

My eldest boy beating me down the red last week in Borovets and hugging me with delight at the end, both of us knowing that I really tried my hardest!!

re: Best day

My best day was on my first holiday about six years ago in France. Day one....... being a bit of a disco queen and new to the ski/snow scene I wore these platform trainers and fell in a hole in the road. Twisted my ankle, big row with boyfriend, cried with a towel over my head, boyfriends mate put ice on ankle. Day one and two no snow for me. Day 3, I joined my ski school worried I would be crap but due to my fella making me have dry slope lessons I was actually the best in the group! ...

Day 3, I joined my ski school worried I would be crap but due to my fella making me have dry slope lessons I was actually the best in the group! And I ski'd to my fella who was in the outdoor bar and he had a big grin on his face! (Well pleased that he could go off with mates boarding, knowing I was ok and wouldnt hassle him, haha). I was quite pleased with myself that day!
