Hi guys, my fire time down the mountain today, pretty cold and foggy but still loads of fun. I went down green 6 and spent quite a lot of time on my ass due to the very shallow / flat parts.
Any tips on where to go fellow riders? Our instructor had only been there for 4 days so he wasn't sure, so thought I would ask here.
Best run for beginners to build confidence is the red to the right hand side of the four man lift. Its a gentle one but with enough of a slope and width for you to really practice your turns!
Its the one that the four man chair goes over at the top and it joins the green run again further down to take you onto midstation!
We call it the fun run as there is something for everyone and you'll find us on there alot through the day! The peskey ski schools do not get onto it ...

Just take your time on it and practice the basics and you'll have lots of fun to go with the sore ass
It's not my ass I have a problem with, it's my knees!
Thanks for the tips! We'll give the red run a try tomorrow. We did try the first bit of a blue run today, but it was solid ice on the slope. Knocked the wind out of us when we fell!
We took green 6 to the bottom, but it's very flat in lots of places and as we were taking it easy we lost momentum.
Let you know if I (and my knees) survive tomorrow!
Stick to the edges of every slope if you can - our ski buddies scrape all the snow over to the edge so its always softer there!
Not sure what your instructor has said so far but try and keep your knees apart when standing on the board as if there is a soild pole between them pushing them apart. This should make you more stable and less inclined to fall forward onto them
The fun run is less icy than othes too as its between trees and sheltered a little...
Think we went past you today on the cut through from red to green - but was not sure! You were doing your bindings up and i' m guessing it was your fella a bit further down giving a thumbs up that all is ok!
Believe it or not the reds and some blues are better for boarders ( you are one of us now) because they have more of an incline and you can keep momentum. Stick with the fun run and keep going -once you are past day 3 everything starts to click!!!
Stay off green 6 if ...

Stay off green 6 if you can - i know more snowboarders that have had falls on that than a little - too flat, too narrow and too icy to really get confident.
We will take you down a blue tomorrow if we see you - big and wide so that you can practice those turns!
My tip would be when doing the flats keep on an edge toe or heel which ever suits don't let the board go flat and don't weight you're back foot, remember if you're on an edge you can't catch an edge and face plant!!!
