going to Bansko next week and taking a boarder with me who likes to board on powder. All I have ever done is skied down the marked runs and through the trees directly below the chair lifts. I hear that Bansko is great for off piste skiing. Although I am sure he will love the marked runs and the trees to the side of them, where else can I take him to give him the full Bansko experience?
The off-piste is good at the moment but you still need to take care. The cover is not that deep and a lot of the areas are littered with tree stumps and rocks... Also consider that some of the gulleys have been swept by boarders sideslipping, exposing the ice base, witnessed a guy who slid down a face, effectively on his face in the champayne bowl yesterday, and a girl tied up in a tree root, screaming out for help...
Great area beneath Todorka in the bowl but same advice would apply... go ...
