Well for one, the piste's are wider in Bansko than Borovets. So in Bansko a boader has more width area to obstruct us skiers when sitting across the piste on their R's.
No to be honest Borovets has better slopes and off piste for boarding whilst Bansko has more Piste area and more flat spots for boarding.
I loved Borovets and have as yet to go to Bansko. I did find the 'Ski Paths' linking the piste together pretty flat in some areas and had to take my board off and walk. Being quite new to my now beloved snow sports I do not have much to compare it too. Are most resorts much the same with these linking paths which can be quite flat? Any experience of other areas?
Hey,
Not sure if S.P. has got the resorts mixed up? I haven't been to Borovets yet but I know Bansko pretty well now. If you've got a decent board, or at least a waxed one then then there aren't any flat areas that give you a problem. There are a couple of bits where you wouldn't want to stop but as long as you carry a bit of speed you're fine. With wet snow and hire board then there's the odd section that might give you a problem, like the last 500m of the ski road back into town, but you ...

And there's loads of off piste to explore! There aren't really any flat linking paths, apart from the last bit of the ski road (that only links to the town). The run from Shiligarnika to the top of the gondola is pretty gentle, but you're not going to get stuck.
Oh, I tell a lie! There is the bit from the bottom of blue 10 past the cafe's to carry on down the ski road that is uphill, and normally full of people stood around so you can't keep your speed up very easily. It's about 20m long, but a good place to stop for a drink anyway! Or you just head back up the mountain and come down from the other side.
Matt
I'd agree with Matt - the only other bit I can think of is mid-way down the ski road where it forks off right towards chalin valog - there is a slight uphill bit, but a little speed (not even loads) and you coast through....
Only know Bansko and agree with all above nothing flat apart from short bottle necks where even skiers stop, the stretch off ski road to Chalin Valog becomes a challenge between us who can ride it all the way, it can easily be done if it's not busy. Bansko seems a very snowboard friendly resort, maybe Borovets is too?
Neither are any good for boarders and you would be much better off elswhere therefore leaving the pistes free for what they were designed .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. ...

Only joking!!!!. In the past have found that only begginer boarders have trouble on the few flat spots in Bansko, though in wetish snow the bottom part of the ski road would be a challenge i expect.
Both resorts are good for boarders due to the number of chairlifts.
