Having just returned from Borovets I thought it might be worthwhile mentioning a couple of tips that might that might help first or second time boarders preparing for their upcoming visit there.
These tips have been formulated based on my own experiences.
1. You will need a garden approx 25-30m long with a slope from top to bottom. If yours does not fit the bill rope in help from a friend or neighbour. Stand at the top of the slope on your board and slide very slowly to the bottom whilst waving your arms about. When you get to the bottom sit down IN THE MIDDLE of the slope. For added realism get 7 or 8 of your friends to do the same.
2. Go to your local convenience store and buy about a gallon of slush puppie ice without the flavouring. Place the mixture in a bowl on your kitchen table. Now stand on your board about 3 feet away and begin some visualisation practice. Close your eyes and imagine yourself edging and spinning and gliding down the most difficult of slopes with grace poise and excitement. When you have done this open your eyes and plunge your face into the bowl in true "Face Plant" snowboarder style because it doesn't matter how much you dream, this is what will happen.
3. To replicate the awkward approaches to drag lifts or the short cross country stretches tie one foot to an ironing board and try to run to the bus stop at the end of the road.
Yeah i can see myself doing all of this & more but isn't it great fun??!!
Just returned from Pamps had the best time ever and going back next year coz i love the pain and bruises so much!!
I forgot how painful it was so i'm going to Xscape in a few weeks time just to remind myself!
arent beginners meant to stop at least twice down the slope and sit and rest for about 10 minutes each time ?
well thats what they do whenever i go to a dry slope
