Have been doing this a number of times each year for the last 20 years.

I can barely recall the last package holiday we booked but it was like the ones before it not great. Reps everywhere - organising a meeting in the middle of the afternoon of day 1 into a 7 day holiday... you tfr home on the last day etc. And their usual you get a free drink if you come along...

We didnt bother we had a deserted private beach area (and it was all inc too so free drink was a dud). The other guests were in the meeting for 3 hours and like usual high pressure sales for the trips.

We just relaxed. Reps found us a few days later saying they were worried about us that we had not turned up. Response - well we had no interest in any trips and have read up in detail on the area before arriving so didnt feel it needed it. They responded by saying we had important info for you??? I asked well we arrived late afternoon the day before why would it take 24 hours to give us this important info?? Well we like to ensure everyone is settled in and enjoying the holiday then get them all together. Um so this important info was nothing about safety (Id read the emergency exit routes) itwas only about tours and wasting a whole day hanging around.

The year before a similar thing happened again we didnt bother with the "meeting".

So since then we book flights book hotels and book up our own trips our choice researched and chosen before we actually go rather than while there after booze without any alternative competitor offering. Plus we dont lose a day hanging around.

It's Pamporovo, I've been a number of times before a few years ago with my kids and always booked a package with Thomsons. We always enjoyed the fun of the ski school, meeting people and the party at the end of the week. I want to return next winter and may be in the position of travelling by just booking flights and transfer, so will need to hire Ski packs seperate.
I wondered if it's possible to book the ski packs like the ones that I used to book with Thomsons.
