Now I think that I am ready to share all my feelings about Borovets, because enough time has passed since my friends and I were there (from 6th january '05 till 13th jan), so my report seem to be free from feelings and now I can really think about all strong and weak points of this ski resort. Anyway I think that there the majority of the strong ones:
1. The impression of the resort in general -
a very friendly place, the majority of its "inhabitants" are the english people, several russians, europeans: serbians and so on. People are very polite and try to help you if you ask them something, not very persuasive as in some other resorts.
2. The hotel we stayed at -
"Ivan Rilskiy", which is located not far from the 'centre' (I mean hotel Rila). Not very comprehensible service according to the price it costed for us. But I think in the UK, Europe the cost of this hotel is much more cheaper than in Russia. Not very good rooms - the condition of bathroom leaves much to be desired (the shower is located strong above the toilet bowl, so it's not very convenient). However we are young and not very captious about the conditions, it seemed not to be a very big problem for us. The food in the hotel is quite good for extra payment, but breakfast we ordered in moscow seemed not to be so good.
3. Slopes and skiing/snowboarding conditions -
I don't think that I have the right to discuss the condition of slopes because I have seen not so many slopes through my life, but for me - a novice in snowboarding - there were a variety of different slopes and I can say that everyone can find there the place according to his abilities. I can just add that my friends, who are not novices in snowboarding, were not disappointed in slopes. The atmosphere on them is very friendly and funny, especially relations between boarders and skiers).
4. Restaurants/bars/food in general -
a favourite topic for me, except the subsequent one (about nightlife). So, let's start. My first advice for all of you who are going to the resort: do not offer supper in a hotel - you will find a lot of different place to go to in borovets and I think won't be disappointed at all. There are a lot of restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars and so on. As for me and my friends we preffered the White Horse (not far from Samokov) - a splendid place to eat, a splendid atmosphere, very polite and friendly waiters, who became our best friends there. The food is very various and the prices are quite low. Also a very nice place is the "Blue" cafe (However "blue" in russian means homosexual man, and our male friends didn't want to eat there, we spend a very nice evening there). The other pleasant place is Francos pizzas (a good place to watch football). All in all the condition of restaurants and bars on the slopes are quite good there. I liked it so much!!
5. Nightlife -
as I have already mentioned it is my favourite topic because I find that the nightlife in Boro is not very bad!! I can even say it is very good!! But of course there are some weak points.
First of all that there are not so many place to go at night, but the Buzz Bar of course is the best of the best!!!!! The best place to relax, to chill or to spend a very cheerful night after the day on the slopes. However, there are a bit hot in here but it is still the best place to dance in!!! Speaking about nightclubs in Rila and Samokov, I can say that the Rila's nightclub is a little bit better for teenagers that Samokov's because there are not so young people in Samokov. And I can say that there are not so many people at all in samokov and in rila at night, so my conclusion about nightlife is that Buzz Bar is the best place!!!
At the end of my report I wanted to add that we spend a wonderfull time in there and wanted to repeat it again next year. I think that the conditions in Boro are very comprehensible to the teenagers who wanted to spend unforgettable time and to meet a lot of new people!!
of course my report contains the smaller part of all my impression about Boro, so if somebody want to ask me some extra questions i will be glad to answer them!!
p/s/ wanted to say big thanks to all our new friends: Ivan Ivanovitch and Rado from the White Horse, Kaloian (instructor) for spending time with two fun-loving girls, for Iovan from Serbia for the great speech about your country, for George, the photographer for tequilla; for Jason from England; for Miko (aka Robbie Williams and Michael Jackson) for unforgettable dances in Buzz Bar, and for all of people who remember 6 crazy people: 4 boys and 2 irresistable girls - Kate and Jane)))
Yes thats correct Dave, blue in german isn'ta color is a condition.
Spacibo sa ewo report ot Borovez Kati.
Oschen interessno, a yuschen russki turisti buil intersno ot bostoschni simoi raioni.
Schto tui dumaesch pod bulgarski rakia i russki vodka???
Sune, actually I don't understand some words you have written...
But as for bulgarian rakia (i don't know how to spell it right) it seems to be a little bit stronger than russian vodka.
But I can tell you a funny story about me and my friend: when we were in borovets and one evening went to the restaurant (don't remember it's name, but it's located near francos pizzas) and there a waiter give us a pile of hot rakia (may be it wasn't rakia at all) and when we (two young 18-years old girls) ...
