Boro My Review

Well well well!

Try to read every review I could before I went. Even emailed Bulgarians in Sofia for advice.

Slopes
Not great but if it snows while you're there you will have fun. Gondola or Yastrabeets 4 man lift is your best bet for best runs.

Food
The Mexican and Chinese were the best places we ate. Chinese set meal for 4 with beer came to under a £10 each and we were stuffed. The hot dog stand next to the buzz bar is splendid!

People
On the whole they seem friendly. Some will try and rip you off if you're not careful. I went travelling after university; I stayed in each of the following countries for a month: India, Egypt, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. As a black person I received more racism from Bulgarians in a week then I did from my entire round the world trip.

Cost
The resort is not as cheap as you may think but is cheaper then France and Austria. Change Stirling to local currency once you get there for better exchange rate.

Nightlife
Good place to let your hair down. Not really for kids as smoking is everywhere and it is more like an 18 to 30 on snow then a family resort. Frankos and Buzz bar a best places for night out. Chiles not bad but small compared to other two.

Accommodation
Stayed at Yogoda , Simple, Cheap and very friendly. Would stay there again if I ever went back

To Conclude
Borovets is good for the younger crowd who do not take the boarding or skiing too seriously.

I did have a really good time everything considered. Will save up for longer next year and go to Canada. I take my snowboarding a little more seriously then Borovets do.

Thanks for the report. Sorry the hear about the racism but have to say it does not suprise me. Eastern europe still has a way to go on that front.

I have a customer who has been to Bansko twice her partner is black and she said they got a lot of looks and even request for photos!!!! Her other half was needless to say not impressed.

ah thats really sad on the racism front. We're in Boro next week and my best mate is black, he's doesn't usually take no s*** from anyone either so it could be an interesting week :S

re: Boro My Review

On my last visit I was surprised how a particular borosport ski instructor was only to happy to share his racist views with me. Sadly, he was amazed and didn't believe me when I said the colour of someones skin simply doesn't come into the equation in any part of my thinking or being. Crying

re: Boro My Review

My son's friend came with us last year to Borovets. He is black and 6'7" tall. He had no problems with the locals!! He has also been to Bansko and had no probs there either.
