Seeing the thread on a green run in Bansko, it got me thinking about green runs and paths in Borovets that don't quite match the piste map.
Firstly - the Musala Pathway. This is pretty much as shown except alot of the bottom bit is flat.
Y2/Y3 - when you come across from them to meet the bottom of Y1 it looks like you should be able to have an easy ski to the Gondola but I've never found this way - I've always come across to join the path where it meets the Musala pathway by a little ...

Firstly - the Musala Pathway. This is pretty much as shown except alot of the bottom bit is flat.
Y2/Y3 - when you come across from them to meet the bottom of Y1 it looks like you should be able to have an easy ski to the Gondola but I've never found this way - I've always come across to join the path where it meets the Musala pathway by a little bridge (as I recall). You then pole and skate and join the rila runs at the bottom of the black.
There is also a route that comes off Y1 to the right about 2/3 down. When you go down there you go past a building on the right and join the MP higher up.
From what I can see on the piste map however only the one route is indicated - the second one. It looks like if you are coming from Y2/3 you follow Y1 all the way back to the gondola which I have never done.
Are there any other ways that you can come across to the Rila side? Are there any quick ways that don't involve poling and skating for ages? I suspect not as there is a valley between the two sides (used by the MP) but you never know!
I am wondering how many ways down the mountain from the top of the gondola there are. Of there is the Musala Pathway, but I am thinking more of if you come down the Yastrabets side. You can come down Yas 1/2/3 and then pole back over to the Rila side through the forest. You can also cut off Yas 1 to the right about 2/3 of the way down and hit the forest paths slightly higher up. You then meet the track that the Musala Pathway hits and then you are back to poling along.
Is there anyway of coming across higher up so you have more of an easy run with less poling - other than trying to go down the the gondola pylon route! What is the fastest way down?
It would be really good if there was a lift that took you from the bottom of Y1 up to the Rila side....
Jez, I think the piste map is a little like the Underground map in so much as scale. There are a number of different ways but unless you are following somebody who knows them, you might not find them. There is of course the issue of conditions, as some of these routes are through the trees, last years snow fall probably made these routes un passable (not enough). I also think that boarders may have trouble using them too. If you're not in a class, find yourself an independent guide or ...

I also think that boarders may have trouble using them too. If you're not in a class, find yourself an independent guide or instructor for a day, there are plenty of them and get them to show you the way. That is of course assuming your ability level is high enough for the task.
