Hi all,

Well reported from the resort a couple of days ago conditions were good and was promised snow by the locals.. It didnt come! (Will never criticize the weather man again) The conditions at the moment are not good i'm afraid yesterday was just about skiable at the top but lower down was terrible, the temp was high, sun was out and warm and the whole resort has suffered quite a thaw. Today the gondola closed because of the fog...
Now for the good news.. looking outside the rila right now and the sky is dark and menacing wind has picked up and the temp has dropped quite a lot, the locals have said that snow is on its way, the official forecast is for snow over the next 24 hours in fact the whole of eastern Europe has been given a now warning, lets hope its a big dump will need at least 20cm to bring the slopes back to a good/great condition.
The snow will come.. hope its soon am going home on Tuesday.

On another subject one positive thing i can report is that the gas is on and there has been no mention of a problem..

Food.. most is a rip off but there is a place called white magic on the road leading to the Rila that serves a fantastic golash (stew) its 6 lev per portion and the perfect pre or post piste meal. I you want to venture out of the resort then an absolute must is Bistro Sol in Radul, its a ten min taxi ride (8 lev) from Boro and here you will find gorgeous home cooked grub in traditional surroundings for prices that are a fraction of those you will find in Boro, Beer 60p full on meal £5.00, owner Dave is English and a top bloke.

Just waiting in samokov hotel to come home after a week. With regards to ski conditions, slopes up the top are fairly good apart from the black which is very bare. Yastrabets runs are good til about the mid point where they get very patchy, lots of stones and mud. The two runs outside rila are good due to the snow canons but the black by the far chair lift is not skiiable. The musala pathway is also closed, it was so patchy and icy on thursday and is now closed. There is some good snow up the top but desparately need snow!
