Hope this helps - Lizard posted this (below) when I asked the same question - apparently you're allowed to fall over as many times as you like - whether on the snow or in the bar, he he!

"I was nearly 40 when I first started skiing and it is the most hilarious thing you will ever do. Remember snow is very soft. You will fall over and you will laugh your head off. If you relax and remember everyone falls over, you will end up skiing better. Of course that is easier said than done when you are sliding out of control, but once you are used to falling over and realising that snow isn't a lot different to water, you will relax and find it all a massive laugh. Then once you complete your first snowplough run, you will want to go faster and higher, then your realise you need to turn. Then once you can turn to the left, you want to go faster and turn sharper, then you realise you need to turn right, too. Etc, etc. You will be in a group of skiers at exactly the same level as you, and they very soon become your best friends because you will have so much in common when trying to ski for the first time and laughing at each other. I don't know anyone who has been skiing just once!! And there is no better place to start than Bulgaria. You will have an absolute ball. Don't forget to report back here on your return!!
Kettles? I guess that depends on where you are staying, but the Bulgarian people are very friendly and can no doubt sort you out with whatever you require.
