Due to arrive in Borovets later this week - it's my first trip to the resort (and to Bulgaria). Are there bars/restaurants on the slopes as one would expect in the Alps? If so, are many open given the lack of open runs and, if so, which are the best?
Hi jt
There are several bars at the top of the gondola and they'll be open once there's enough snow up there !! One of my favorite places to stop and eat on the slopes is the finishing line pub (just be careful of the slippery floor) but most of the bars and eateries are back in the village .light lunch and a beer and water about 12-15 lev so the price of a beer in the alps !
There are runs open on the Rila side and there are lots of bars right at the base of the runs. The best one for atmosphere, food drink and welcome in my opinion is Bobbys Bar which is just at the side of the Rila runs. Look for the big mountain rescue building.
Hi JT,
If you are are a red run skier then at the moment best open runs in resort are yastrebets 3 and 2 . number two goes by bar called finishing line that's OK. You can get up to bars on top but all runs shut at the moment, we still need a large dump. Yastrebets skiing well in my opinion Rila icy and busy. Today skied on yastrebets really good skiresorting and no queuing!!!. If you ski rila side have to agree on Bobbies. But most bars on slope sides are good for a beer . Hope this helps ...
