Borovets - Cash or Credit Card

Hi All,

Could we use credit cards in the restaurants and bars? Is it safe ie chip and pin? Or is it best to use cash?

It's got awfully quiet in the forum. Any chance of getting a current weather report or forecast?

Hi guys,

Borovets is a cash only resort, I am guessing the same goes for Bansko and Pamps, there is however easy access to ATMs and money changing places, just walk down the 'main street' and you will see money changing places and there is ATMs in- and outside the Rila as well as in the Flora, and I assume other places, but these are the ones I have always used.

It's not a cash only resort many restaurants do have card machines. However most restaurants prefer the cash option..

Mark IOW is out in borovets now so his weather updates are not as often. However he has said he will update when possible and only if there is any weather changes

ive been going to borovets for seven years and ive never seen a bar take a credit card,hotels yes.it may happen,but dont just rely on it. steve.g

Have to say, i've never seen any restaurant or bar taking payment by c/c. in Borovets other than hotels with restaurants. Plenty of ATM's to use and i've never had any issues with chip and pin. Although you do have to be sensible like you do in the UK, don't let them walk off with your card etc. Common sense really.
I get a good exchange rate too from the HSBC when withdrawing cash.

We use a no load or charge credit and debit card when travelling. The credit card gives 3% cashback so, we try and use it as much as possible.
