Borovets - Make Up Your Own Mind

To anyone who is about to leave for Borovets

I feel sorry for you if you are reading some of these postings.

If I was a first timer counting down the days to my Borovets hol I would be totally confused by the forum.

Come on guys give them a break and lets have more of the sensible reviews that you can find on here if you look.

My advice is to try and pick out the useful advice from the useless criticism. Go with an open mind, a positive attitude, take on board the useful advice ...

You might just enjoy yourselves !!

Here Here

Just take normal precautions!

Pay for each round as you go
Keep menu with you to check final bill
Pre agree any taxi fares before getting in
Change money in hotels, banks and official places
If you don't like the atmosphere somewhere, get out
Ask around for recommendations, including your ski instructor
Don't be afraid to ask to change class if it doesn't suit
Try going into nearest town for a meal, it will much cheaper

Go with the flow and enjoy Very Happy

-dont expect smiles from the locals
-when ask your ski instructor for advise -expect to be given one recommending only the places he will get a cut from the commission-nothing else.
-if you ask for change be prepared for strange answers or faces
-if you go to the nearlest town for a meal prepare yourself for shock to your sences and make sure you know your way back to the resort

then everything will be OK
Happy Days

re: Borovets - Make Up Your Own Mind

thousands of people go to Borovets, every year and have a great holiday. Dont be put off by the negative posts. I know a family that have been going to Borovets for the past four years. Within a week of arriving home from this years holiday, they booked up to go again next year. As for me I'd love to be going this week next week or any other week, RELAX AND HAVE A GREAT TIME. Booze Very Happy

Borogirl, what is the point of a forum if people can't express their own view.
All the ski resorts in Bulgaria have their good points and their bad points and I believe people using this forum have a right to express their own views and experiences. If this is not the case what is the point of a forum.
Honest debate is importants and constructive critisism is good and it makes people (ie the resorts) stand up and take notice.

I think if you were honest you would agree that it has been a bad years for Bulgaria on the PR front, hopefully it will take note and starting reproducing the good service that it has provided in previous years.

bloody hell mikey...that sounds like most ski resorts across europe... borovets aint that bad, ive been to worse across france and switzerland for grumpy locals and rip off prices.. most people go there to learn cos its a cheap place to learn..and theres more than enough to keep a beginner busy for a week..and for the mud and crap...again like most places when the snow melts, the ground gets muddy...you been to villars at the end of the season....theres mud running down the street.. yeah ...

and gogs i agree with everything you say about this forum...you normally get shot for saying anything bad, post deleted, banned from taking part..etc etc.. but i dont believe anyone in bulgaria will listen or take heed od this board and change things...thats just the way of the ski resorts...and people will keep going untill somewhere cheaper comes along....at the end of the day kidda..90% of posts on here are from the clique...anyway, im drunk and dont know what im talking about so ignore me...but this time next week ill be pissing in the streets of borovets.....come on!!!

franky boy have another drink -not too many though but dont post these sentences- and calm down.Widen your horizon open your eyes and you will see the real differences - about the other resorts etc.I can assure you I have been in the last 30 years to 'more than 100' ski resorts on business and holiday and I place negative posts(not only negative ones) on here because I believe that alot of people on here get the distorted image of the place before they travel so there it goes a litle ...

I enjoy to read when somebody says something not desirable by the clique is jumped on straight away mainly from the people which want to keep the place as rosy as possible all the time and at any cost.
It is a free forum isnt it?-sometimes i just laugh at the useless postings-Hi how are you all, good morning all,I am Back,one..to...300days to next going to BG
-better just call your friends ,do skype or make conference calls rather that posting something so empty.

ONE Good thing which came from this side though was the donation recently organized - I am fully behind this good idea.
If anything I have more interests (direct ) that anybody on here but believe that something has to change drastically-- and the quicker -the better.
cheers
