re: Borovets - Ski Equip/Pass Review

Hi ,
We have booked our ski holiday independently this year and have booked our ski pack with skiholidayextras too. We were wondering what time do you have to go to the hotel Rila on the day we begin our lessons to collect passes etc as we have no tour operator to give us this info or do they leave a message at your hotel with details?
Thanks for your help.
Rachael

Rach

You can got to the office early as there always seemed to be somebody there. When you go to the Rila, go past the shops towards the lifts, go down the stairs and there is a small ski depot. Ask in there and one of the guys will show you where the skiholidayextras office is as its quite hard to find.

We skiied there last week and got our passes etc from them, good service. I would suggest you get there early as the equipment is from the Rila 1 ski depot and after 9 am it will be ...

Hope this helps

Borovets - Snow

Interested in knowing what the snow is like out there at the moment. Are the green runs open yet? I'm wanting to book but have been putting it off. Input from someone who has JUST got back would be great!

Hi All,
We've just got back from Boro. Another fantastic holiday.
The conditions were fad last week, all the runs were open and conditions improved each day - see Kas's posts, they are very accurate ( sorry we didn't get to meet up Kas ). The green runs are open and the Musula pathway was also good, and that was on Wedsnesday. When we left Sat it was snowing heavily and apparently has continues since!!

This was our 7th time in Boro and although bars etc are pretty much the same, you can tell there is a recession there. They have lowered the prices for beers etc in a lot of places but they all seem much quieter this year - til we arrived that was!!! Interestingly the beers at the White House ( top of Gondola) have been reduced this year and are 3lv for large...Happy days.
Just my opinion re lunch / lessons, the ski instructors get very little in wages ( approx £400 per month depending on teaching level) and are encouraged by their employers ( Borosport etc) to give a high level of customer service and therefore work hard for their tips at the end of the week. II was just wondering what you good people think of as a fair tip???? ( assuming your instructor has worked hard.)

Anyway, if you are due to go have a great time...wish I was still there.

Great post Dan and have to agree with Phil, about instruction.

Always been to Boro in the past and skied all day with ski school, well over the 4 hrs advertised. Always skied with Borosport and been taken to loads of different restaurants not just ones owned by Borosport.

This year went to Italy, got 2 1/2hrs tuition in the morning then instructor left us to it as far as lunch was concerned. Plus only 5 days ski lesson.
