Hi we have just returned from a great week in Borovets..
The conditions when we arrived on the 23rd were great.
However the lower slopes did get a bit worn towards the end of the week.
This was mainly due to the hot sunny days we had throughout the week.
But there is still plenty of snow on the upper slopes.
But be warned you need to get to the gondola station early we arrived at 10 one morning at qued for over an hour. This then is the same in the evening on the way down as it was not ...
Hi we have just returned from a great week in Borovets..

But be warned you need to get to the gondola station early we arrived at 10 one morning at qued for over an hour. This then is the same in the evening on the way down as it was not possible to ski all the way down. If they get more snow this will of course change.
This was our first visit to Borovets and we enjoyed it we stayed at the rila hotel.
We had read some mixed reviews on the hotel before we left. But on the whole were very happy with the rila. The food was good the breakfast great. Rooms were comfortable. One point I would make is if you are travelling as a family and want to get some sleep at night then ask for a room at the back not facing the slopes.
As the slope facing rooms are also facing the bars and clubs some open till after 2 in the morning. We changed our room after two sleepless nights the hotel were more than happy to do this for us.
With regards to prices we found the bar in the rila verey expensive compared to other bars in Borovets. but on par with uk prices 5 lev for a large beer exchange rate in the hotel was 2.5 to the pound with no commission a coke was also 5 lev other bars were between 1.8 lev and 4 lev. The average price for lunch for four people was 65 lev with drinks. In the resort and 95 lev on the upper gondola
We had a very nice meal in the green king one night and at a very good price much cheaper than lunch on the top slope.
And we spent most nights in the white magic. With the Bulgarian down hill ski champion nice chap good fun.
We hired our skis and boots through Hunters and also private lessons. They charged £37.00 for skis and boots and poles for 6 days and £72.00 for a two hour lesson for four people.
Would we go back to Borovets Yes we would. It was a great place to take the kids for there first ski holiday and our first for twenty years. On a whole we found Borovets a very friendly place to be.
