Bulgaria Ski discussion board

Had a wicked time - one of my best holidays ever. Only snowed once unfortunately so meant that come the end the week, the snow was drying out somewhat. Still a good ski though.
Stayed at Breza hotel - would definately recommend- quite small and quaint - get to know the staff who are friendly and the rooms / facilities are especially very clean. Shower is very powerful too which is lush when uve had a hard day\'s ski!! That said, the Rila hotel looked lovely - at the bottom of the slope, too, so ideal to ski down to at the end of the day. Went to the pool at the Samokov and it was absolutely freezing so only stayed in it for 5 mins - the hotel staff were a bit rude, too.
Went to the Red Dragon Chinese - recommend big time - really nice and good food. Get the meal for 4 - plenty of variety and only £20 so a fiver each!! Also recommend the salt and pepper ribs for starter - delicious!!!
Biggest tip of all - go to BUZZ bar - 4 double vodkas and cokes were 4 lev - approx £2.50!!!! It was also a good club / dance place and the DJ took requests. All the other bars were a bit pricier but nothing compared to UK prices.We also had 10 shots there of Abseinte for our group (during happy hour which seemed to last all evening until 12am) and that was 10 lev so approx £4. My gosh we were pretty drunk that night!! Elsewhere the average bar price was about 5 lev approx £2 per drink, obviously local beer very cheap. Be sure to ask for Bulgarian vodka cos you may get served UK stuff which they charge more for.
The exchange rate out there currently is about 2.55 lev to the £ so def worth changing your money out there cos in the UK it\'s been as low as 2.3lev to the £.

Very jealous of anyone going out there - definately would return and recommend to everyone.

Just got back from Boro also, had an amazing weeks skiing, just a shame the gondola was not running to the top for 3 days. Weather was fantastic, never known it to be so sunny. Evenings were good, enjoyed visiting Buzz Bar also, so cheap for drinks in happy hour, Bulgarian Vodka and coke worked out to about 40p I think, unbelievable, and the measures were huge!! Agree with you Debs on changing money, get much better exchange rate in the resort and also no commision.
I love the atmosphere in Boro, will definately be back again.
