Borovets Report

Just got back from Borovets after a great holiday. snow was perfect a week ago and ripped on all slopes. But at the moment snow conditions are good only for picnic. Rain and warm weather melted a big portion of snow. Beginers were having great time but many good skiers prefered not to hit the slopes. Anyway pray for new snow. Oh by the way upper slopes of gondola are still ok.

I stayed in Iglika bungalovs and loved them. Food was really really good. Above bulgarian standards, eat at the hotel if stayin there and save ur money for drinks. Buzz bar was fabulous, dont miss!!! Drinks were cheaper than chips Booze

One important thing is to buy your lift pass before hand!! I did buy mine at the resort and had to pay 281 levs for 6 days!! too much Sad !!
For the ski and snowboard equipment Samokov hotels depot is the best! They have new Orion carving skis and rossignol boots!! my skier friends loved them! i have my board so i only hired boots but now have many reddenings on my feet! try to buy ur snowboard boots, they are cheaper at the resort but # of sizes are limited. Best Burton boots were 180euros and rossignol ski boots were 150euros! really cheap for the best! Continental shop has good models and there is a shop near francos take away for snowboard equip!!

Thats all i can remember, ready to answer further q's!!! Razz Cool Booze

re: Borovets Report

got back from Borovets on Saturday 31st. great holiday and great snow fall after a whole day of rain !

Folks..beware of ALL 2 for 1 offers on drinks..Beer no problem but spirits are watered down, including the buzz bar.. in particular vodka. I have been a Nightclub manager for 11 years and I can tell you that after 13, yes 13, double vodka and cokes in the 'happy hours'..i wasnt even drunk. The vodka was poured from a seperate container.

So here is what you do.

So here is what you do.

2 for 1 offers...and im using vodka as an example.

Order vodka, no coke on its own and no ice. this comes from a seperate bottle and is neat. Order a coke..then mix it yourself (out of eyeshot of the barstaff)

This way you get full strength drinks. if asked, say you want straight vodka for chasers or straight 'down in ones'.

They wont give you watered down vodka on its own cos you will be able to taste it, with a mixer..you wont be able to.

Hope this helps.
