That’s our annual pilgrimage to Borovets over for another year and we did have a a great time despite the far from perfect conditions.

Accommodation.
We stayed in the Iglika Palace for the first time. The room was clean, but basic, with the food being good compared to the other Bulgarian hotels we have stayed in. Location was good, but a little on the dark side when returning home after a night on the razzle!.
Conditions.
These were the poorest we have seen in our 4 years of skiing in Boro. I don't think these are a true reflection on conditions expected in Jan, having always travelled around the same time. We managed to ski everyday (apart from 1!!!) , but were restricted to the Yastrabets 2 & 3 red runs.
Summary.
We had a great time, especially on the Sunday night where we met up with Kas, Bobbi, Borosteve and many others from the forum....o boy what a night....lets just say that I missed my 1st days skiing in 4 years on the Monday!
We will go back to Borovets, deffo.
To everyone yet to travel, enjoy your holiday.

Can I ask you how difficult the the Yastrabets runs are? From the videos and pictures I've seen, they don't seem very steep. My kids are happy skiing french blues and was wondering how these compared to those? French red was a bit too much for them and I was hoping the BG reds are not as bad!
Chris, the worst part is coming off the chair lift where although not steep it is very, very icy. Further down there was deep snow where the cannons were , so a lot easier. Still quite icy in places though. I've stuck with Boro for the last few years so can't really compare with france but if the French Reds had snow on them and they found them tricky, not sure how they would do on the ice. I think it's mostly down to how much snow is there when you arrive. After a couple of days ...

I think it's mostly down to how much snow is there when you arrive. After a couple of days warming up, the reds with snow on are manageable by lots of people with limited experience. Skied with Pete and Kate and had a great week but conditions were a bit tough!
