Thanks so much really appreciate any help as a two of the five are skeptical about the trip, if you could list any pro's that would be great.
Hi Peter-I would sugggest you could try the Hotel Alpin which is situated between the slopes in front of the Rila so it is ski/out .There is the choice of the hotel which is small and the bungalows which are in the forest behind the hotel with board walks leading into the hotel-there is a web site for the Alpin so you could have a look-if you want to organise your own flights they will offer you a transfer from the airport and also have thei own ski hire and instruction.I am in my 60's and ...

Bulgaria gives you a unique experience, the people are brilliant and you tend to get hooked on the culture but if conditions are bad and you are a serious skier it can be disappointing. My first ski holiday in 1988 in Borevets was the start of a bit of an obsession with sking and Bulgaria!!best of luck.
I would recommend Borovets. I am pretty sure it has a bigger ski area than Pamps and it has a very good night life. There are loads of lovely restaurants, bars and even a few clubs. It is compact which means you can walk every where.
Borovets is such a friendly place and unpretentious. I've been skiing to a few different places, Boro might not have the biggest selection of slopes compared to other places in Europe but you cant beat the place for atmosphere.

We love the Ice Angels hotel perfect position at bottom of the slopes. Never had a problem with noise. Just stay away from the big hotels like the Rila and Samakov.
I learnt to ski in Boro 4 years ago, it was the best thing I've ever done. Have to say I was frightened to death, but the feeling of self achievement at the end of every day is amazing! I never thought I'd say it but you can keep your summer beach hol, give me skiing any time!
The instruction in Bulgaria is excellent. In Europe lessons are a lot more expensive, and only last a couple of hours in the morning. Whereas in Boro lessons usually take place for a few hours in the morning, break for lunch then another couple of hours in the afternoon, offering excellent value for money.
So Peter you must try skiing. Bulgaria is a brilliant place to learn. As far as your friends are concerned, as long as they realize Bulgaria is different to Europe, perhaps it doesn't have the huge choice of slopes they've prob had in the past but the place in general more than makes up for that.
Finally do a bit of homework on best time to go.........now there's another question!!!!
