Borovets Snow

Booze Booze Booze
Hi - Intending on going to Borovets either before Christmas or immediately after Christmas for a week. Anyone know if the skiing should be good and if there should be plenty of snow at that time of year?
Also where are the good pubs to go to? _ i'm from ireland so like a drink!!!

re: Borovets Snow

More chance of snow after Xmas usually - not guaranteed then either but we've been last 2 years, 2nd week Jan and had enough snow to ski on, give or take some grasssy patches. January is a risk - March seems better - loads of snow when I went this year. Check out Snowforecast.com and look at the history of snow in the resort. Still doesn't mean that 2010 will follow previous years though! Loads of pubs - you'll be spoilt for choice and all in a reasonably compact area so you can choose ...

The "Best" ones change in my opinion, depending on where the crowds go/who you are with, and also what age group you are also what time you go out! Enjoy the resort, we'll be in Boro 2nd week in Jan again and will be hoping for a good dump of the white stuff Very Happy

re: Borovets Snow

Went Borovets for Xmas 08 first time skiiing since a school trip about 13 years ago. Snowed most days whilst we were there (even on Xmas day). The slopes were just for skiing for the first day just but we just bought some bum boards and had a blast on the nursery slopes.

As for the pubs there are too many to choose from. Some of course better than others but they all treat you with a smile and great hospitality.

Going again on 16 January 2010 and can't wait. Hope there is lots of ...

re: Borovets Snow

Went Boro in Mid Jan 09 a wee bit icy down low but up on top it was lovely. Best to get up via gondola and pack a few choc bars and down again afternoon to be sure of good snow. Bars a plenty ideal for pub crawl. Went out every evening lots of free shoots and happy hours the secret is to keep moving to get the best crack then settle in for last few pints.

re: Borovets Snow

it already has. about 10cm a couple of days ago. Unfortunately it won't stay at the resort level as it is due to warm up in the next few days. At least it's a start
