Borovets Weather at Christmas

We have been to Borovets a couple of times now but never for Christmas / New Year, what has the snow been like for the last couple of years?

Was there Xmas 2006, snow lying before we arrived but none fell during the week. Consequently, after sunny days, lots of ice each morning which was turning some slopes into accidents waiting to happen! Also, hardly any lifts open, so gondola ridiculously busy. Think it's a chance you take, may be worth it if you really want Xmas away - great fun on the slopes.

I have been going to Borovetz for Xmas for the last 7 years (got too, the wifes from Samokov town), there is no way to predict what the weather will be and there is absolutely no pattern, for instance 2003/2004 was excellent conditions all season yet the gondola was shut for more then half the season due to high winds. Like Mat says last year was good but then we had snow in early October last year, yesterday it was +25 degrees!!!!!

Traditionally (ask most Bulgarians) a warm autumns means an extremely cold winter. Anyway just come for the crack, Xmas is excellent when the booze is cheap!!!!
