On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being dreadful how bad is the hire stuff, as I getting concerned reading previous reports. Have booked hire equipment in Borovets.
boot and board i havent had any problems before
it hink it simply varys as some stuff is in ok condition some is in bad condition they have to me anyway been helpful and changed stuff for me
No problems - ski's are of good condition prob a 7-8 but boots can be a problem; If poss I would recommend taking your own boots as you will be far more comfortable! - The extra cost for a pair of basic ski boots will proabably be paid off by the second time you go.
I always take my own gear, and I agree totally about the boots.... the decathlon deal is well worth it.
Last year in Borovetts, we were with another couple who had their hire gear from the ski store at the Samokov. The skis were reasonable basic carvers - so no problem there, but the real issue is with the servicing they get. I don't believe that either pair had seen wax.... ever!!
This may not seem a big deal, but it does make a huge difference to how well the ski will turn, and handle. ...

This may not seem a big deal, but it does make a huge difference to how well the ski will turn, and handle. The ski shops opposite the Samokov sell tins of "rub on" wax (instructions on the tin) for a few leva. I really recomend buying some and putting it on to whatever skis you hire there. It will make a huge difference to how well the skis perform, and how much enjoyment you get out of it
