Borovets for Beginners

We're off this weekend back to Borovets - went for the first time last year - and have convinced my brother and his partner to come along this time! We're all beginners - although at differing levels! - so we're taking some lessons this time - are there any easier slopes anyone can recommend for us to try - a lot of them seemed very difficult for a mere beginner such as myself!?!?!

If you are having lessons the instructor will take you to the easier slopes.There is a very slight slope outside the Rila hotel..which may be ideal for you on day 1.
Keep off the gondola until you find your feet as you will have to do a red run to get down..and remember the pistes may be shown on a map but are not well signed out on the slopes, all those trees can be very confusing!

Rubbish - get on the gondala as soon as you can - its only a blue run once you get off the gondala, and its only about 30 metres - so you can walk down it.Once down there is a super blue/green easy slope with a button lift. Much better snow up top for beginners to learn on.

I went up on the gondola last year - absolutely terrified! - ended up sitting with a hot wine whilst husband had a go! I was too scared to get down the first bit - is that the bit you mean you can walk down?? I did see a lift in the distance that looked ok but as I say was in too much of state to attempt to get to it!! what a baby eh?!
Steve - I did have a go on that little slope I think which was totally fine - just wondered if there was anywhere else ...

Borovets is not great for beginners. I hope you like a baptism of fire. Try the gondola, if you become terrified on the steeper sections just take your skis off and walk to flatter section and ski from there, repeat 3 or 4 times and your down. Keep moving, don't freeze up there and have to be rescued by the piste machines like 2 of my friends last week; I really meant to go back for them but gondola closed. There are no life jackets provided! Better do the 2 blues first.re: Borovets for Beginners
Jo, if you can get your instructor to take you up in the gondola as the runs are far better then at the bottom, alot easier then out side the rila.
Also on the weekend the locals also come to the resorts to ski so it will get busy sat and sun.
I learnt more on the top runs the on the nursery slopes, the double drag lift is quite fast and sometime tricky to handle (it kicked me off twice at getting on to the drag).
You might get bumped alot more at the bottom then the top runs as it was ...

i think people have a few diffrent opinions . first there are quite a few easy slops in borovets , out sid ethe rila is a slight slope what is used for beggineer if u look at the web cam u can see it it may look big but thats because there is a red/black run that runs into it . to the right there is also another slope wich beggineer use,
the gondala can be tricky , it all depends if its open all the way up(there are 2 parts to it ) if its not as some people say there is a major ...
