Borovets in late January?

Hi, was wondering what to expect in late January in Boro as a general rule? Is it busy? Temperature unbearably cold, or just so-so? Do many runs tend to be closed in bad weather?

Any info appreciated Smile

re: Borovets in late January?

Was in Pamps last January but it's similar for both...

It's not unbearably cold if you are skiing - but if you are sitting around doing nothing, then of course it's cold. Never needed thermals under my sallopettes if that's anything to go by and just a wicking long sleeve base layer with maybe a lightweight polo shirt ontop.

The only reason runs will be closed is if the conditions are either too windy or near zero visibility to run the gondola - otherwise all stays open

If there are cold and high winds in Borovets then the gondola will close as it did quite often at the beginning of Feb last year. Remember that it is the wind that makes you really cold and not the actual ground temperature. If you go to the Borovets page you can look at the weather and snow archives for the information you require.

My advice - take lots to wrap up warm. I wear about 6 layers on top and 3 on the bottom!! I'm a cold sole and in the evenings no one recognises me as I ...
