Hello everyone, this is my first post so please be gentle with me!!
OK, i'm going to borovets with my girlfriend on the 20th of Jan and will be staying at the yagoda chalets. We have both always wanted to go on a winter holiday like this and the holiday is going to be a surprise for my girlfriend. I also plan on proposing to her
Anyhow, I have a few questions I need to ask if you could help me out.

Neither of us has any real skiing experience (I did go once to Scotland but it was ages ago), but it looks like it might come out quite expensive for ski and boot hire and tuition (money is getting a little bit tight after i've paid for engagement ring and holiday etc etc.) so I thought maybe we could have a day or two tobagganing. Now would I still need a lift pass for this? I'm assuming I do but not sure.
Also I hope to go on some skidoos and other activities, but what's the best way to find out about these things, should I ask the rep when I get there, is there a tourist information place or should I just hunt around the town?
Has anyone stayed at the yagoda chalets and are they OK as I heard some bad things about them?
Sorry for the longwinded post but it's the first time we have gone abroad and I'm having to organise it by myself in secrecy and some things are getting abit confusing
Thanks in advance for any replies
Dan
Your best bet is getting a learn to ski package, where you get tuition, lift passes and ski boots, skis and poles hire. This is cheaper than getting them on a daily and individual basis. Your tour operator should be able to sort this for you.
Skidoos aren't cheap for what you get, as you don't get to go "full throttle" on them.
It would be such a waste to go to Borovets and not ski!!
It is such good value to ski in Bulgaria, and the beginners Learn to Ski packs (absloutely everything included) is discounted as well. It would be such a shame not to ski, I'm sure if you don't book it, you'll be so jealous when you get out there, and it's much more expensive to book it on site rather than before.
My fella and I are also going to Borovets on 20th January. We are staying in a hotel half board and we booked a beginners ski package with our tour operator. The whole holiday cost including the ski package is under £1000 for the both of us. For the ski package I think it was only about £140 each and that includes 6 x 4 hour lessons, equiptment hire, lift pass etc. I think you'll agree that its excellent value for money! A big gang of us went out last year at the end of Jan stayed at the Hotel Mura. We enjoyed it so much the same group minus 1 or 2 are going out again on the 27th Jan.

Hi Dan
You should have a blast in Boro.

I can only echo the above points not to ski would be such a waste. We were relative novices having spent a few hours on the dry slope in Cardiff before we went but the tuition we had was great and pretty soon we were reasonably confident using all the lifts and taking on blue runs by the end of the 3rd day.
thanks for the replies!
I'm looking into asking our tour operator for ski or snowboard packages, but could anyone tell me roughly how expensive they are when bought at the resort rather than in advance?
yeah I thought i'd better get my act together, cause we've been together for 7 years so it's about time
Looking forward to the skidoos, might just spend all week on those instead of trying to ski
