I'm new to skiing in Bulgaria and torn between these two. Anyone got any recommendations? Am going as a large group of young professionals looking for a bargain trip,
Bansko as it is good for all levels of skiers/boarders and even got some good off-piste if your group is feeling adventurous.
Bansko hotel recommendation:
5* Kempinski. It is the cheapest 5* hotel in a ski resort that I have ever stayed at. Very conveniently located directly opposite the gondola station for quick access up the mountain first thing in the morning which more often than not gets you first tracks which is always a bonus I reckon.

Also, Bulgaria doesn't really do the traditional European Alps catered or slef catered chalet type thing instead they are heavily focused on large hotels. Saying that, there are some good deals to be found regardless of the size of your group. As long as there are spaces avaliable of course.
Hi Suzy, not sure where you'll end up going and not going to recommend either as I don't know Bansko at all so it would be biased to say Boro. In terms of accommodation in Borovets though, there are quite a few self-catered chalets in the Borovets area but you tend to be out of town in a village - which is much cheaper than the resort itself - negative is you may miss out on some of the nightlife. Owners tend to put on transfers (return each day) but if you want to stay out you you'll still be in ski gear and will need to get a taxi back. Saying that taxis are approx 15lev to nearby villages which is very good. There are also a couple in Borovets itself 3 or 4 together, 5mins from gondola, although they sleep 6 (I think), so you would need two. Not sure of names but someone will help I am sure!
