Borovets...3rd March!!

Hi All,

I travelling as a group of 4 to Borovets on Saturday, this will be (for all but one) our first time skiiing.

We have taken some ski lessons and have completed L1 & L2. How can we ensure we will all be together in the ski school?

Also wondering if anyone can tell mewhether we need to bring passport photos for the ski lifts.

We are staying at the Samokov Hotel...it looks lovely, hope its not like some of the reviews we have read Sad has anyone stayed there?

Hi Claire,

We are out this Sat too from Manchester. You don't need photos for your lift passes, at least we have never done before. This will be our 4th time to Boro. It is really good for beginners and has some lovely beginners runs.

We stayed in the Samokov the first time we went. The rooms are very basic but they are clean. The bar/restaurant areas are very nice.

Regarding your group for skiing, we have found before when we have been with friends that as long as you have similar abilities and are willing to go at the most inexperienced skiiers pace they are ok keeping you together.

See you in Bobbys Bar, can't wait now.

Hello Claire
I have stayed at the Samokov Hotel as part of a group.
The hotel is fine. I would go there again.
I found the rooms to be warm and spacious.
I think some of the negative remarks may be directed at the food.
You have to allow for the fact that if you are not paying a lot for the package including flights, transfers, reps, accomodation, halfboard, then you may not get an a la carte menu there.
Have a good time. Booze

Hi Claire

We are coming out on Saturday from Manchester (Thomas Cook) and staying at the Samakov.

Don't worry about the hotel - we stayed there last year....yes, it is basic but we found it to be ideally located, clean and although the food was not the best we have had, there was good choice and we always managed to find something we liked.

We remember our first impression of the hotel - it was like stepping back in time.....but in a nice kind of way!

Borovets is great - two sleeps - I am so excited!
