hi Kez,
Borovets is a cute ski village - depending on whether or not you've been skiing before will determine your first impressions. The first time I went with my family in Feb 2004 I thought it was fantastic but then again I'd never skied before. If the weather's good and the gondola's operating (it closes if there are high winds) then the skiing and the views at the top of the mountain are amazing.
The apres ski is brilliant too, noisy bars - Buzz, 101 Cocktails, traditional Bulgarian dancing - Ethno Club - Food - The Blue, Salamander, Mamacita's & The Happy Duck have great food and live music.
Borovets has the most "ski" feel of the Bulgarian resorts. Follow the crowds and ask the others in your group. It is a super friendly resort and it is impossible not to have a good time.
