We are completely new to skiing holidays...... Our little boy 4 yr old wants to play in the snow build a snowman sledge etc would Bulgaria be suitable if yes which resort?
One of the companies I spoke with said no way its too much of a party place and was trying to steer me more towards france or Austria which is fine but Bulgaria is so much cheaper and this is a last minute idea and I don't want to spend a fortune.
I don't think you would have any problem whatsoever. I've been a couple of times and am going again in five days time! Most hotels have typically quiet bars and others are fine and full of families at the appropriate hour of day. Any more lively activity takes place after four year olds bedtime anyway. The kids play areas look good and there are sledging and other stuff in plenty. Only problem is tripping over the little lighters as they come scuttling down the nursery slopes in their snake ...

We were there in February this year and there were lots of children playing about on the nursery slope in the snow. It is a bit of a party resort but I didn't find it that outrageous but then this happens at night, so the children will be in bed :-). It is cheap there, that's why I have just booked to go again in January :-).
Hi Sam
I don't think it's a party resort but I'm normally in bed by ten.
My two boys are five and love it there. Everyone is really freindly and understands that the future is in a family resort
You could get some private ski tuition for your boy and it gets him used to it and pretty cheap. I've been going for a while now and I would recommend it for families
Borovets has a dedicated area for the kids to learn to ski if they want to do that. Some really young ones in there too, at the bottom of the Iglika slope. As for sledging and snowman building, it happens all the time, there's plenty of places to build! The bottom of the black slope, far left of the resort as you look up the hill has sledging and rubber ring sliding too at times of the day when there are no skiers there. Go, enjoy and return. We have done for the last 4 years now and we are ...

We have done for the last 4 years now and we are in no way the Brits on the p**s that the place has the reputation for!! Yes, that can be found if you go looking for it, but like all have said already, if you're with kids, you can easily not find it.
Hi ,
You will have no problem with Bulgaria. Visited various ski resorts in Bulgaria , the first being in 1996 . Will be definitely visiting in the future however as you know ski ing can be expensive when paying for the family. Bulgaria gives you great ski ing at a good price . My son was 6 when we first took him to Borovets and he learned to ski there . Good luck if you decide to visit Bulgaria you wont be disappointed . My son was 6 when we first took him to Borovets and he learned to ski there . Good luck if you decide to visit Bulgaria you wont be disappointed . I am a snowboarder and skier and although I have been hitting the slops for the 20 years I am yet to visit the Alps which I am told are overpriced and over crowded .If you want any ideas on other destinations let me know , but Borovets is a good option , such as the Hotel Rila, Samov or ice angels .
