Brill time in Borovets

Got back from Borovets late on Saturday night.
The skiing was fantastic. Whilst I was there the only run closed as the furthest red on the top of the mountain.
The Gondola was closed for part of the day on Friday but other than that there were no problems skiing.

Stayed at the Rila which was fine. Somoene who had been staying at the Samokov asked about the Rila. Somoene in my ski group had stayed at both. He reckoned the main difference was that the Samokov was closer to the gondola so if you are an intermediate skier then you have 10 minutes less walk each day.
For me the Rila was more than adequate. Comfortable rooms and plenty of food and variety. The pool and jacuzzi are free but you have to pay 10 levs for the suana and steam rooms. 45 levs for a massage which was good value.
Meals on the slopes seemed very reasonable - 14 levs for a chicken burger and a coffee.
Went mostly to the Derby which was mostly quiet as it was just off the beaten track.
All in all a fantastic week of skiing.
